It's made out of 100 percent polyester with a 2 inch Satin smoothed binding. This binding is what gives the soft feeling by stretching the polyester. Polyester can be smooth but it can also be coarse and hardly ever soft. So the stretching of the material between the bindings would help.

The Micro plush Blanket is 100% polyester and with a 2" Satin smooth binding on it. I guess the polyester gives the soft feeling to the micro plush blanket, which your talking about.
