Called a book louse, it feeds on organic matter and mold that collect in the book. Cockroaches and silverfish will also call books "home".

These bugs are commonly called paper lice, or book lice. They are found in many household areas but primarily as you say in books. They actually feed of the fiber found in the paper of the book much like termites get nutrients from wood. While they are called lice they are not lice as found in hair.
