Visit the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine. This beautiful church is the largest Gothic Church in the world surrounded by beautiful gardens. Entry if free. If you want a character filled meal in a very relaxed setting, hit the Dumpling House in Chinatown. The average meal is under $5 and you are able to watch the food preperations.

First, see a broadway play. Visit TKTS to get inexpensive seats. Museums - Met Art, Guggenheim, American Museum of Natural History. Take the subway. Visit the UN, Ellis Island / Statue of Liberty. Walk 5th Avenue. Go to Brooklyn. Ride the tram to Roosevelt Island. Visit the Bronx Zoo.

Central park is great to see, as are sites like the Empire State Building or 9-11 memorial. If you have time and budget permits, I'd recommend seeing a Broadway show.

Tourist spots include things like the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Times Square (where you can see a Broadway show), the Southstreet Seaport and shopping on Fifth Avenue or Canal Street. A great restaurant to try is Becco, on Restaurant Row.
