How do you train a dog to fetch?

A lot of dogs do not play fetch without being taught. Most dogs that will are probably retrievers since it is an instinct they are bred for. If you don't have a retriever then the best way is a Kong toy. Stuff the toy with treats and remember to start out with short tosses and loads of praise and patience.

you have to make it interesting to him. find something he really likes, like a bone or a chew toy and make him want it, then throw it. alot of times dogs will fetch but then they wont bring it back to you.

First throw the toy, then encourage the dog to go get it. When the dog bring the toy back to you, give the dog a treat.

Some dogs just don't seem to have interest in playing. If your dog has a favorite toy try throwing it to see if your dog goes and gets it. If he doesn't your dog may just not be into it.
