first you have to get you dog play with an object (ball, frisbee, etc.) and when they're in the mood for playing, throw it away and they'll going to after it. When the object is on their mouth, call them to bring it back to you.

I have had Labradors as pets for my whole entire life, and Labradors are very easy to train, actually! Give your dog treats when they are good, and scold them when they are not. Dogs pretty much know how to fetch already. When your dog 'fetches' the ball, call them back to you and make them give it to you.
