How do you learn to catch?

I love the game of baseball and would like to play and teach my child to play but am having a hard time with catching.

Start out slow and close to each other. And then as you get better, back away slowly until you both can throw and catch from far away.

Start by getting a quality baseball glove that is large with a big pocket. That makes the job of catching much easier. Then start by throwing a ball short distances at slow speeds to improve your eye hand coordination. Then progress from there by throwing farther and faster.

You learn to catch, simply by practicing. I would recommend just throwing the ball back and forth with a friend, or even, throwing it up in the air or against the wall and catching it. It may take some time, but as long as you have decent hand/eye coordination it will come.

The best way to show your child how to catch is going to be letting them watch at first. Play catch with someone else so they can see how to get the ball in the glove and cover it with the other hand.
