Stress could be cause of the pain, not metal stress but general stress to the joint. Sometimes if your body is not used to activity or strain you could have small amount of swelling. Take anti inflammatory with will help with pain and take extra time to rest.

The first obvious answer would be to see a doctor. In the mean time, take some Ibuprofen to help with any swelling, and start an ice regime. Ice the knee for periods of 10-20 minutes, and if possible also apply heat treatments immediately afterward. Try to keep pressure off the knee and avoid any strenuous exercise.

There is typically no cure for joint and bone pain. A way to reduce the pain levels in your knee would be to try icy hot pads, or using heat.

Alternating heat with cold will help to east the pain so a warm wheat bag alternating with a bag of frozen peas should help. You can also take pain relief containing ibuprofen which will reduce inflammation.
