The cabin air filter is under the hood up near the windshield wipers. The engine air filter is in a plastic box a bit smaller than a shoe box, held together by clips. Simply open the box and swap out the old one for the new one and clip the box back together.

The air filter is located near the engine by the AC unit. You can easily remove it by hand. You'll need a matching filter however. This is a fairly broad question becomes there are many different models of your type of car. I would either consult a mechanic personally, or refer to your user manual.

Once you have the new one just take the old one out and put the new one in thats all there is to it.

First locate the air filter housing. It should be off to the right of the engine. Remove the bolts and clips holding the lid on to the air box. Remove the lid followed by the old filter. Clean any debris from the bottom of the air box and then install the new filter. Finally re-install the lid.
