How do you fix a stuck air flow knob on a Ford Focus?

I can not change the temperature level on my Ford Focus, it is set on cold air and we are entering winter.

Gently spray a lubricant around the moving parts of knob. Slowly apply a back and forth motion to wiggle loose. After regaining movement of the air flow know, run engine to make sure that the knob is still controlling the temperature. Reattach control wire if the knob moves but temperature does not change.

It's the air flow control knob not temperature control knob. It's to the right of temperature control knob or knob in middle.Makes air flow change from vents to defrost or to on your feet.  add a comment

You may be able to manually adjust the knob if you remove the housing off the front of the btemperature setting. Removing the knob allows you to be able to get to the stud that you can turn with some pliers and manually adjust.

First, get under the dash and find the cable going to that knob. Then, clean the cable and back of the knob and put some penetrating oil on it.

Check and see if there is something stuck in the knob preventing it from turning. Pull the knob off and see if the bolt behind it is loose. Finally see if the control wires are broken and need to be reconnected. You will need to take off the panel assembly to see the wires.

Get a pair of pliers and see if you can move the knob. If not, then I would remove the knob completely with the pliers and turn the control manually.

I have the same problem, but it's the knob that control air flow from vents to to defroster, not the temp control knob!At 1st it was stiff, then you can hear door slam shut and it worked but now it just clicks and air flow won't change from defroster to vents.

Just had the same problem.. 2005 ford focus .. took my cover off and took apart my knob to notice the cable threads that adjust the temp were unaligned ..(pain in the butt) but with time realign and place back and test to see if it works!!!
