There is a private investigator's licensing course that is offered in most college's continuing education programs. Just research your local colleges to see if they offer this program or course.

you must first be a regular police officer for at least 3-5 years before u can promote to a detective.

I believe that you have to have a detective liscence. YOu might have to take classes, maybe get a gun permit and pass a test. Once you have a liscence you post advertisements for the kind of work that interests you.
