There are in-duct heaters that can be added to forced air systems. There are also wall mounted ventless gas heaters that can be placed in rooms other than bedrooms. There are some nice electric fireplaces that can be added to any room.

If you are wanting to heat your house if would use more of an electrical view. This is the best and cheapest way to do it.
