This will depend upon each individual. However,it is always recommended not to drink alcohol when you are taking other medication. Prednisone could have adverse reaction or other side effects and taking it with alcohol could be dangerous. My advice is that you should never take any prescription medication with alcohol;however, if more than 8 hours have elapsed since you took the prednisone it may be okay. The prescription label should have a phone number on it that you can call to ask these sorts of questions and get the best answers.

Always read the description on the bottle or the paper print out that comes with the pills. This should tell you if you can drink alcohol. My rule of thumb is not to drink when taking any pills for at least 48 hrs, that includes any over the counter medication.

Most alcohol is essentially poison that is not metabolized by the body. The body struggles to eliminate it because it cannot break it down or use it. Prednisone is especially stressful to the body. To further stress the body with alcohol consumption is not wise for a number of reason, including the fact that alcohol reduces prednisone's effectiveness.
