Will a hernia show up on an x-ray?

A normal x-ray is calibrated to depict the skeletal system - as such, a hernia would be unlikely to appear. However, the use of contrast dye inserted into the colon could allow any abnormalities to show up, assuming that the proper procedure was followed. If a doctor was specifically looking for a hernia, s/he could find one without difficulty.

Probably not, because x-rays are not specified to look at soft tissue. However, if it is the right spot, I suppose it could be seen on x-ray.
