Your cat's eye could be swollen for many different reasons. He/she could have sustained an injury -- a bite or scratch from another cat or from some type of plant material. Herpes in cats appears in the eyes and is very common, though this usually causes a runny eye. They are also susceptible to conjunctivitis.

If your cat has a swollen eye you have to be very observant and look for other symptoms. If the eyes are swollen and watery then your cat might have the cat cold. Your cat will need antibiotics and you need to bring your cat to the veterinarian.

Swollen eye(s) can be a symptom of many things. A cat can have allergies, the eye could have been scratched, there could be an ear infection, or an abcessed toth. The best thing to do is clean the eye and surrounding area with a warm water cloth. Visit your vet if the condition persists.

I have no idea why your cat has a swollen eye. It could be an allergic reaction, the cat could have a foreign substance in its eye, or this could be a symptom of something else entirely. This is one of those times when you should take the cat to the vet.

It could have been hit in the eye, or have something in it. It could also be a sign of herpes virus. Please take your cat to a vet!

It sounds like he was in a fight or playing and his eye got scratched. Can he open it? Does he let you touch it? If he can you might want to soak it with warm water. If he can't and it doesn't get better you might want to see a vet about the eye.
