Freeze plugs are typically found along the sides and ate the rear of the block. They are the large round disks recessed into the block. Usually a machine shop will install these for since most need to be pressed in. You could possibly do it yourself. Just hammer out the old ones and carefully tap the new ones into place.

The freeze plugs for a 350 Chevrolet should be placed in the rear of the engine where the transmission bolts up. There are also freeze plugs that should be placed along the sides of the block, near the motor mount. Brass freeze plugs are stronger and does not rust, but steel plugs are also available.
