Follow your doctor's instruction for CAT scan preparation. Typically, that involves no eating or drinking for about 4 hours before the procedure. Depending on the type of scan you are having, you may need to drink a contrasting agent.

There is no preparation involved prior to a Cat scan. Although, you will be told not to wear any jewelry for the test. You can do some online research to know what to expect from the procedure. It is worthy to note that is's a simple and painless procedure.

There's really nothing you need to do about a scan. Everything is taken care of by the physician right before, such as changing clothes and taking out magnetic reactive metals out of your skin/pockets. Tattoos made with metal can be very painful if subjected to a cat scan.

Many times, no preparation at all is required. If your doctor has ordered intravenous contrast and you have asthma, you may need to take steroids to prevent an allergic reaction. If you are getting an abdominal scan, you may be required to drink a special solution before the scan.
