How do I go about cooking a beef rib eye roast?

I want to prepare one for an upcoming dinner party.

Start with a rub, then sear for 15 minutes or so at a high (450) temp, then drop down to around 260 for 3-4 hours.

Bring the meat to room temperature, coat it in vegetable oil and rub it with desired seasonings. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees and add the roast fat side up and bake for 15 minutes. Then turn oven down to 275 and bake for 25-30 minutes per pound. Serve medium-rare.

You will generally roast this for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs in a 350 oven, however there are many different cuts and preparations. The Texas Beef Council website has a lovely recipe for rib eye roast and oven-browned vegetables that is just wonderful. I also always recommend that you have a copy of Joy of Cooking in your kitchen- BEST!

You can cook it in the crock pot. You can take some beef broth and put some french onion soup mix on top of the meat.

Follow the instuctions posted on the packet of roast you purchased. You'll need to preheat the oven to the directed temp. assumable somewhere in the are of 400 Degrees. Then allow it to cook for the alloted amount of time.
