What should I do about my Whirlpool refrigerator that has caused ice to build up on the back wall behind it?

I would call Whirlpool and see what they have to say about that. There may be some sort of problem that needs to be addressed. I might move it away from the wall for now, to let the wall air out so it does not mold. It could be a factory defect since that is not supposed to happen.

Ice forming inside the freezer itself is not unusual and easily correctable by adjusting the thermostat and defrosting the unit. If the ice is forming on the wall behind the refrigerator, you will need to move the unit away from the wall as much as feasible and check for any coiled hoses that could be causing improper air flow.

The liquid in the evaporator is not boiling off; could be due to over charging. The timer motor is causing an interruption in the cycle. When it goes in the defrost cycle, condensation remains, and the cycle repeats itself until ice forms. In any case, call a technician.

If the refrigerator is still under warranty you should check with the manufacturer.It is always best to call a professional for help.The cause might be a bad thermostat.

You are going to want to buy a thermostat for it. When the thermostst goes bad you will notice ice on the coils in the back and that is because all the cold is now staying in the coils and not the rifrigerator.

hi iam an ac tecnician you should shut the refrigerator off let the ice melt it can be a couple of things one the coil could be dirty and two it could be low on refrigerant if its a new refrigerator then the warrenty should cover it.

Sounds like you need to call a repair man. Or if it's new, return it. There's something faulty in the machine. At best, it's wasting energy by "cooling" the wall behind it. At worst, it's leaking freon...

The temperature on the refrigerator may be too high. Adjust the temperature. Bring the temperature knob half way in between.

Well, perhaps your settings for the temperature are way too high. You might not have too many things in your freezer, but your temperature is at its coldest. Adjust the temperature. Make sure its not at 10.

Open up the bottom door look inside where the setting's are set it to less moisture.If that don't work or this feature is not available turn the temperature down.

If that happens take a shovel and start jammin the back wall 'till the ice shatters and then use the shards as ice cubes for beverages. You could also use the ice to take down swelling from an injury.

Mine did that and they told it was because of the way I was putting my stuff in the freezer they said it blocks some tube off and causes it to freeze then when thatws nasty smelly water everywhere they told me they could try to fix it but no garuntee but maybe I should look into a new fridge.
