Oscar Wilde had many problems...being a gay man in a society where sodomy was a crime. I think he was a highly intelligent and sensitive man who was forced to be something he did not want to be, so he rebelled by his actions.

Oscar Wilde was famous for writing several plays. Wilde is simply his last name and it doesn't suggest anything about his character.
