The Peacock and Tortoiseshell caterpillars do. The young larvae will feed on the nettles. Tortoiseshell's normally are found on the edge of a patch or on lower stem needles while Peacock's are genearlly found in the center more often but also in other spots.

There are a variety of black caterpillars around the world. One butterfly that produces a black caterpillar is the Peacock also known as Inachis Io. They are common throughout the UK. The eggs are generally laid on stinging nettles. The resulting black spiky haired caterpillars are often seen clumped together.

Black spiky caterpillars found on nettles are the hungry larva of the Red Admiral butterfly. This striking flier has velvety black wings with red and white markings.

Milbert's Totoiseshell and early instar Peacock caterpillars, are the only black caterpillars that I know of that feed on, and nest on nettles.
