In 1944, Boston Braves pitcher Red Barrett pitched a complete game against the Cincinnati Reds with only 58 pitches. He allowed two hits, and the Braves won 2-0 in Cincinnati. The game lasted one hour and 15 minutes, and is the shortest nine-inning night game ever played. Barrett threw 9 fewer pitches than the pitcher with the second fewest pitches.
