Cy Young holds the record for most batters retired (also known as most innings pitched) with 7,356. He set this record while playing for four different teams: Cleveland (National League), Cleveland (American League), Boston, and St. Louis. The best pitcher in each league each year is awarded the Cy Young trophy.
