Toxicology overlaps significantly with pharmacology, but also with biochemistry, clinical/analytical chemistry, histology and pathology. Individual positions for toxicologists may include features more common to any or all of those other fields, as well. Toxicologists, in general, are concerned with the study/detection of toxins on/in organisms or living systems.

The field of toxicologist is a brending of biology and chemistry. The toxicologist is mainly used in the anaylsis of a substance to determine wrether a toxic substance is present and at what levels. The work is generally in the area of Medico-legal issues. Either in hospitals to assist in the treatment of patients or in the courtroom
