The most important parts of our lives, whether personal, professional, or social, require us to invest effort over a long-term period, without any immediate, obvious reward. The more highly motivated a person is, the more likely he is to invest this kind of effort. Motivating others requires educating them of the necessity of such efforts in achieving happiness in life.

People don't do much without motivation because motivation fuels the desire to accomplish something. You cannot make another person feel a particular thing which means you cannot motivate another person. You can offer rewards (extrinsic motivation) but unless the person wants that reward, your attempts to motivate will not succeed. You can make a task as enticing as possible.

Motivation is of utmost importance since every one of us is always motivated - internally or externally. You can motivate them either through financial means or actually forcing their hand.
