There are two different divisions of college football coaches and the salaries are signifigantly different. For a Division 1 football head coach the salary can range from 1 million to 2.8 million. However, the Division 2 head coaches average salary is from 60,000 to 90,000.

Coaches at this level make great money. Up to 100,000 per year. But most have played football and have coached before.

There is too much variation to give any average salary. Top Division 1 coaches make millions, but assistant coaches at Division III programs may earn as little as $20,000.

Coaches at huge universities with a winning team can make in the millions per year. However, there are thousands of colleges in the United States, most of them not being in the top division. Their salaries are a more realistic $50,000 to $100,000 per year. Choose a job based on what you love, not on the pay.
