Your size is good. Speed is average. The thing about the SS position is you need to be able to both stop the run, and cover WR's and TE's. Often times it doesn't matter how fast you are in this position.

Well first I would study the fundamentals of football. Get involved in your high school football program and learn everything you can. Watch as much film footage as you can of other strong safety players already playing. Last but not least have pride and leadership. Most college football programs look for great students and players.

To play any position in college football, such as strong safety, you need to be an excellent football athlete as well as have a good academic record.

A strong safety splits their duties between crushing the run and breaking up passes. If you're interested in playing strong safety, you need to have a unique skill set in being good at pass coverage, like a cornerback, but also be able to tackle like a linebacker.
