There is a song "Strings of Fate" by the Belgian metal band Gwyllion. It is also the title of a weekly web comic by Jen W. Tochi in which the main character, Tony, finds out he is a reincarnated version of a deity from the Chinese zodiac.

Strings of Fate is a book series that is somewhat similar to Twilight, but not quite. It looks pretty interesting from what I've seen!
