HDPE welding is for plastic welding and it stands for high-density polyethylne made from petroleum. You usually use a sheathing material which provides high resistance to water penetration. Plumbers use this kind of welding all the time. It also has a high resistance to chemicals and it is fairly easy to keep clean.

Typically a no stick hot plate or air gun is used in the process. The hdpe is melted until doughy (300-350f) then pressed together, and allowed to cool, forming a strong bond. The weld is usually HDPE to HDPE including the filler.

Basically it is the process of fusing two pieces of high density polyethylene(HDPE) usually with a piece of filler in between. It is similar to traditional metal welding. Heat is used to bond the plastic into a solid piece. Special attention needs to be paid to the type of plastic to ensure that the are compatible.

In short pipe welding is nothing but joining the plastic pipes. Requirements in both type of welding is same like good joint prep, right heat, pressure clean surface of pipes. In hdpe welding some can weld or join easily by using solvent or adhesive. Heat and pressure accuracy is key factor for hdpe welding.

HDPE refers to High Density PolyEthylene - polythene to most people. The material can be molded into many shapes, but nothing sticks to it, and it cannot be stuck with adhesives. Edges of pieces can be melted under the right conditions, excluding air contact, and "welded" together.
