Dolphins are skilled hunters of the ocean. Their favorite food is Mackerel which is a fish found throughout our oceans. The dolphins hunt in groups called pods. Together in these pods the dolphins become very successful hunting units. Dolphins eat other varieties of fish as well. Fish is the main diet of ocean and river Dolphins.

Dolphins are carnivores, believe it or not, and will eat a lot of fish. You can see this being done in Sea World and other aquariums where the bottle nose dolphins are taught to do tricks with fish in the trainer's hands. Whales however eat mostly plankton and will most often not eat fish.
