There are two types of nylon in carpet construction, BCF and staple. Both are made of nylon pellets, which are extruded into the fibers which the carpet is constructed of. BCF is a continuous strand which will not shed, staple is chopped and twisted (and will shed).

this is what bfc nylon is made of nylon, polypropylene (olefin), acrylic, polyester, wool, or cotton. almost 99 % is made of synthetic fiber
