An electronic throttle module or ETM controls the throttle in an automobile electronically compared to mechanically as it was done in the past. The ETM is basically a computer that adjusts the amount of air/fuel ratio to achieve an ideal mixture as determined by the computer. The computer determines the ideal mixture by use of oxygen sensors.

An ETM is an electronic "computer" connection between the gas pedal and the throttle of certain cars, replacing a cable connection. Pressing the accelerator causes the ETM to calculate how much gas the engine should receive, then a signal is sent to an electric motor that controls the throttle.
