How do you test the throttle position sensor in an older model Camaro?

The problems I am having in my car indicate that the throttle position sensor is going bad.

You'll need a multimeter to check the sensor. Take the red probe and probe the gray wire. Take the black probe and ground to battery. The voltage should fluctuate dramatically.

Unplug the TPS electrical connector. Test the signal voltage using computer. Then test the TPS sensors resistance. Finally adjust the TPS using ohmmeter, remember sensors are mounted with couple of screws.

There is really no way to test the throttle positioning sensor other then if you have a computer hooked up to the car when the check engine light is on. If there is a problem with it, it will store a code in the computer of the vehicle.

Well depending on what year of Camaro you have the process might vary. You should get a repair manual for exact instruction on how to check it for your model. Typically this involves check the sensor's voltage at certain potion. Then comparing this to what the manual say. This should tell you if the switch has issues.
