PPT generally refers to a power point presentation file. You may not have Microsoft Powerpoint installed and therefore you computer does not know what to do with the file. I would purchase a copy of it if you do not currently have one, or download Open Office, a free alternative.

A .ppt file is a Microsoft Office Powerpoint file. You will need to use either microsoft office powerpoint or Google Documents to be able to view the file. Microsoft office is a pay per product but google documents is free.
