Question by  Hoardy (454)

Are there only certain dates for filing income taxes?

I file early in January, but I have a friend who says she has to file taxes several times a year.

You file a return once per year, but your friend might have to make quarterly payments, which are due April 15, June 15, September 15 and January 15 of the following year. These are estimated payments and are made by people with non-wage income. If she has a business with employees, she might have to make monthly payments.

You can file your taxes any time in the year as long as you get done by April 15 to avoid penalties and fees.
