What can I do for a dying cat?

Best thing you can do is be there for him/her. Let them know you love them. Make them as comfortable as possible. If they are in pain end the suffering.

If the cat is in obvious pain and is suffering, it would probably be best to have your vet euthanize it, difficult as I know this can be. Otherwise, if you think the cat still has a decent quality of life, just make it as comfortable as possible. Continue to offer food and water, especially foods it likes.

It depends on why it's dying and how it's dying. The most important thing is to make it comfortable. This often means pain medication, soft, yummy food, and lots of love.
