One of the key factors in a healthy meal is the size or portion. You want to avoid heavy meals at night because your digestive enzymes won't be able to break it down as much because when we sleep, our metabolism slows down. I would suggest whole foods, whole grain rice, chicken, salad or vegetables, and fruit.

Try to have a lean meat such as chicken or turkey for a good source of protein. Then try to have a starch. I use this as my "splurge" food. The one food that I really like, such as mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese. Finally, it is important to include a vegetable with your meal. Something green.

Health wise the best is to home cook whole natural foods concentrating on fruits and vegetables and lean meats. Drink water, and no dessert.

Fish and chicken are good options for a healthy dinner, especially if they are baked or broiled, and not fried. Also try to go by the food pyramid and include foods from the different food groups. Include vegetables, fruits and fat free foods. Stay away from high calorie ingredients. Also stay away from high starch foods.
