Wahl or Remington are good brands of clippers. The guard is what determines the length. They come in several lengths and for shortest cuts, remove the guard.

As a dog groomer, I use the Andis AG Super 2-speed clippers and they work the best of the many I have tried. I would recommend them for a pom as many poms have alot of undercoat that is difficult to get through.

The Golden A5 clipper is super - quiet, runs at two speeds, and is very comfortable to hold. That clipper also comes in a "turbo" model, which has a slightly higher speed for more efficient clipping, but for the money the standard A-5 is a very good clipper. But take care of it as it's expensive!

The best clippers I have found are made by Oster and make sure you buy extra blades and plenty of oil for it.

Regardless of what kind of dog grooming clipper you buy, make sure to always maintain and take care of it. Make sure it never rusts and change blades when necessary. We wouldn't want to have our beloved pets hurt along the way because of tool negligence.
