A different name can come from many sources. You could combine two names into one or mix up the spelling of an old favorite. Or just look for names that are not often used. I like Alianna, Gwendolyn, Genesis, Gibson, and Spencer.

Bryn-leigh, Lashley, Kahney and Shanly are girls names which are new, and boys are Pearce, Jasper, Conlan, Vaughan and Chase.

Surprisingly, names from the distant past are quite rare for babies now; the dignity, honor, and reputation of a historical figure can be an emotional boost for your child. Combining two names creates a unique but perhaps unwieldy name. Consider names from your family's ethnic origins, even if they're distant.
