What are some edgings for flannel blankets?

I would suggest: 1. Cut strips 1/2" wide and 1" long on all 4 sides of material, 2. Using yarn, knit or crochet a border by placing holes evenly along sides of material to form a base; 3. Sew lace or other already made border along each side of material.

Most commonly used is satin that is just wrapped around the blanket edge and sewed on. Also, if flannel doesn't ravel then you might try tying knots like fleece blankets.

Make your own binding tape with either matching or contrasting fabric. Cut fabric on the bias in strips. Fold in half lengthwise, press and open. Fold each long edge towards the center, press. Sew to blanket edges as you would packaged tape. Or you can buy a gadget that folds fabric strips for you -- just pull through and press.
