Silverfish live in places where little or no action is taking place such as books stored in an attic. They will also invade trunks that hold clothing or paper. This is what they live on. They like places that are dark and damp and usually scurry off when exposed to light.

Those are called dustmites. Normally they can't be seen with the naked eye until they reach full adulthood, and even then they're hard to see. Don't worry; they're perfectly harmless.
