What advice can you give me on working with a puppy that has not had much human interaction?

I would recommend taking your pet on short walks to start with. Allow people to approach if they ask, but slowly. Increase the length of the walks. Have family, friends and neighbors interact with him. Take him for car rides and to PetSmart. Gradually introduce him to dog parks when you think he is ready.

put in a carrier with an article of your clothing when leaving it alone. at night put it in the same room as you so that it can see you.

It will probably take some time for your puppy to adapt to being friendly to humans. If you show it compassion and kindness it should warm up quickly.

Spend lots of time with her and let her feel loved, put on a leash, use harnesses instead of collars, have next to you , pet and talk a lot.
