There is a name for the way vaccines work. What is it?

This isn't a quiz. I'm just not sure how to phrase it correctly.

The name for the way vaccines work is "immunisation". They work by introducing a very small amount of a virus into your body. Your body then learns to fight that particular type of virus. Next time you encounter that virus, your body will recognise it and know how to fight it off.

Vaccines work by introducing a very low dose of live virus (or something very similar) into the body, which then creates antibodies against it. In the future, if the body were to be exposed to the virus, it can protect itself. The body is then "vaccinated" or has "built immunity."

If you want a quick way to describe it, I would say you are "inducing an acquired immunity response." Otherwise, I haven't come across a one word term for it in medical school.
