Should I turn the thermostat up during the day or leave it down?

I have heard mixed things about the best way to conserve energy.

The best way to conserve energy is to shut the unit off entirely, the Earth comes equipped with its own thermostat system and energy that is not spent keeping the heating or cooling system in standby is energy saved. Proper insulation saves more energy than thermostat settings.

Yes you can turn off your thermostat at day time. This is waste of energy only. It will conserve some power for you. This can be the best way to conserve energy.

If you're cold put on a sweatshirt. If it still doesn't make you warm turn the heat on. That will help you save energy.

Where you put your thermostat depends on the season. In the winter, you should leave it up during the day, and turn it down at night since you are under blankets. In the summer it is better to turn it down during the hottest part of the day.
