Yes, there is a hole in the ozone layer. Yes, it is dangerous. It is dangerous because the ozone layer is what protects the Earth from the sun's harmful rays. As the hole becomes bigger, more of the Earth will be subject to harmful rays.

In the 1980s, some nasty pollutants called CFCs were found to have made the ozone layer dangerously thin in some areas, especially over Antarctica. Those pollutants were banned, and the ozone layer has strengthened around the world.
