Question by  AmandaVogel (19)

What are good haircuts with layers for curly hair?

I want a layered haircut, but with my curly hair, not everything looks good.

With curly hair, it's better to layer more towards the back than the front. When you layer the front of the hair, you tend to get it cut too short and the front curls don't look great. Also, keep your hair long! Curly hair looks better longer.

As long as you have a good stylist, curly hair should not be a problem with layers. My hair is really curly, and I keep it two inches below the shoulder, layered, with the shortest layer near my chin. Think Taylor Swift. Layers increase the bounce of curly hair.

You can always look for photos online and show them to your hairstylist or ask your hair stylist what they reccomend. If your hair is a longer length long layers would be fine, but for shorter hair layers may not be your best bet unless you plan on straightening it often. Layers may make curly hair look too full.

I would suggest a long layered hair style with bangs in the front. Giving curly hair layers that are shorter or closer to the head can make a hairstyle become poofy and over whelming. I suggest to stick with something that is longer that way the layers can be seen.

Layers look good in curly hair, however they look the best when the longest layers are about midback or longer. That way it still has enough not to be frizy.

I have found with my thick and curly hair that an undercut works best. Have your stylist cut the hair on the inside shortest and the outside longest. That helps keep my hair manageable.

Make sure to keep your layers longer and layered enough so that they keep your hair from looking puffy. Use enforce gel and diffuse your hair with a hairdryer. Beautiful!
