Yes, kennel cough is highly contagious but only if your dog is exposed to other dogs who have active cases of it. Dogs are most susceptible when they are in close quarters with other dogs - boarding facilities and vet's offices.

Kennel cough is contagious and often affect the ill, elderly and young puppies. You can protect your dog by vaccination or keep him away from places with many dogs.

Yes, it's contagious. Whenever a dog is being boarded or around a lot of dogs there is a chance he can catch it. Your dog will need to get a shot for this at the vet's office. If you get it to close to being boarded or around dogs with the cough it won't work in time.
