An orange coat color is not extremely rare. I actually have one and while working in an animal shelter we had quite a few come in and get adopted out. Most orange cats are male so if you have a female orange cat then she is very rare!

Depends on the breed. For the common house cat the answer is no. It is based on genetics and can be breed so check which breeds are orange.

Bless your heart!! You have the best of the best, a marmalade tabby. I've raised a LOT of cats, and these tend to be large, often double pawed, intelligent, loving and charming. When mated, they most often breed calicos and Tortoise shells. They're common in color, but delightful in manner!

Orange tabby cats are very common to find (but still so adorable) but a solid orange cat is quite unusual. I've never seen a solid orange cat in person. There's an almost endless number of coat combinations, but I would say the rarest is a solid brown like the breed Havana Brown.

No they are not rare. However, if you have a female orange cat that would be rare. Usually only males are marked that way. On rare occasions you will find an orange female cat, it's not like it never happens. I guess it depends on exactly what you mean by rare when you ask.

Orange cats (also known as ginger or red) are actually not very rare at all. That doesn't mean they can't be cute though!
