If you are convicted of a misdemeanor, can you leave the state?

Unless the Court directed you otherwise, you can travel outside the state. If the matter is pending, be sure it is resolved before you relocate, if that is your plan.

As long as you're not on probation, or the court specifically told you you can't. And even then, if you ask them, they will often let you travel.

Misdemeanor convictions do not usually carry any travel restrictions. But a judge can put you on probation and they can place limits on travel during the period of probation if they choose to.

not if you are on probation. you would technically have to tell your probation officer where you are going and get his or her permission. The reason being is if you are in another state and come in contact with cops you are in big trouble. you should talk to your p. o if you have one.

You should be able to as long as there aren't papers or a judgment stating that you're not allowed to leave the state.
