You should alternate between shorter and longer workouts. Do a longer one on the first day, then do a shorter one the next so that there is not too much rest for the muscles and joints. Continue to alternate like this, resting on the seventh day to allow your body to recharge.

Neither. In fact, it's better to do a mix of longer and shorter workouts every day. Alternate longer workouts with shorter ones, with at least one day off a week (sometimes two if the week was intense enough). You should do some exercise 5 to 6 days a week.

You are better off doing longer workouts less often. You can only build your endurance by challenging the limits of your current endurance, which means longer workouts. As your endurance improves, the workouts will need to get longer and more challenging. Also, a day of rest is good for most exercise programs, to let your body recover and rebuild.

It is better to do longer workout every other day. But, it is even better if you alternate longer workouts with very short workouts that target other muscle groups and work on anaerobic strength.

Shorter workouts every days are more effective when endurance training. It is best to sprint for 10 minutes or so, then walk for 5 minutes, then repeat this.
