How many days does it take muscles to recover after body building?

I am starting a new body building routine and need to know how many days of rest I need.

The normal belief is that it takes almost two days for muscles to recover. That is why a lifting routine of every other day makes sense. To make this more effective spread out the muscle groups even more. For example legs and triceps on Monday, back and shoulders on Wednesday and then biceps/chest on Friday.

Body building is a good way of strengthening your muscles but meanwhile relaxation is mandatory... I advise students to take REST around 4 days... Then your muscles will get recovered....

Any muscle does need a recovery span after a body building session - but it depends on other factors like body type, effort put in, the muscle itself etc. For example, i used to do arms on alternate days - and i gained 2 1/2 inches in 3 months without any protein supplements.

Muscle would normally take 1 or 2 days to recover. If injury is serious it would take 1 week
